How we research and verify listings

  1. 1. Find the degree

Candidates come from IPEDS completions data, university catalogs and program pages. We confirm the awarded degree names data science.

  2. 2. Quote the source

Every fact — format, credits, tuition, deadlines, funding — is recorded with the official page and a verbatim quote.

  3. 3. Re-check it live

A script re-fetches each page and finds the quote before anything is published. 909 fact groups are live today.

  4. 4. Show what's missing

Unpublished information stays “Not published”. Missing GRE information never means “no GRE”, and missing tuition never means free.

Questions about this directory

Which degrees does this directory include?
Bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees whose awarded degree or official title is data science, joint degrees that name data science (such as Statistics and Data Science), and — clearly labelled and only when you ask for them — related degrees with an officially named data science concentration. Certificates, bootcamps, minors and analytics or AI degrees without data science in the title are not listed.
What does the “Fully online” badge mean?
That the university's own wording supports that the program requires no in-person attendance. Online programs that require an orientation, immersion, residency or in-person exam are labelled “online with required attendance”, and online programs that do not publish their attendance rules never get the badge.
How are the “Best” lists made?
They are editorial selections against published criteria — curriculum, a capstone or research component, published structure, cost transparency, admissions clarity, attendance rules for online programs — each backed by verified evidence from the program's own pages. They are listed alphabetically, never sold, and do not use salaries, acceptance rates or reputation surveys.
Is the tuition shown the full cost?
No. Tuition is shown with its basis (per credit, per term, per year or whole program), student category and academic year. An estimated total is calculated only from a published per-credit rate × published required credits, or a published program total, and it excludes fees, books and living costs.
Where does the information come from?
From each university's own program, catalog, admissions, tuition and funding pages, plus IPEDS and the U.S. Department of Education's accreditation database (DAPIP). Every fact links to its source; a quote that cannot be found on the live page is never published.
